Welcome, online Shibori participants!
This is a special kit priced just for folks who register for the online class I'm teaching for the Folk School/ Lessonface. I look forward to seeing you for the live class on Saturday, February 22. Kits will be mailed as soon as they are ordered, and I recommend ordering by Monday 2/3 to ensure delivery by class time.
You can order any of our core colors for this project. Select one for your kit!
Here's what's in our Shibori Kit:
-1 TBSP of dye powder in a double zip bag & biodegradable picnic spoon
-1/2 C. soda ash activator
-rubber bands
-instructions for Shibori folding & dyeing (for later, when you want to do this on your own)
-instructions for washout
What you’ll need for class on 2/22:
-something to dye! Only cellulose fibers will do, so make sure your shirt/apron/fabric/undies/whatever you're going to dye is made from plants. Ideas: a cotton tea towel, an old soft t-shirt, a pillowcase.
-a container to dye in that can easily hold 1/2 to 2/3 gallons of water. I think these gallon buckets from Amazon are perfect.
-a small clear glass or plastic jar for mixing your dyes with water
-a long handled spoon for stirring
-a work surface that is non-porous, or is covered in a plastic sheet (an uponened trash bag works great for this!)
-if you want to be a pro, invest in a roll of faux sinew or artificial sinew (wax covered high tensile nylon flat cord). Rubber bands will do for now, but sinew is fabulous!
