Hand Dyed Gradient Layer Cake (16 squares)

A layer cake worth cutting into: 16 hand dyed 10" squares color curated by eye, several squares of each color. Professionally dyed, one color at a time, one yard at a time, by the WAXON team, with excitement and joy!  It's not often that we release hand dyed quilting fabrics, so when we do, we feel very invested in what you will make. Please do show us how your finished projects come out.  

ABOUT OUR FABRIC:

We dye on a 100% cotton quilting fabric, 45" wide before washing. Layer cake squares are trimmed to exactly 10" square after washing and drying, and you can expect zero shrinkage and zero bleeding, as we have fully washed and set these dyes and dried/pressed the fabrics before cutting. They are ready to use!

ABOUT OUR DYES:

Fiber reactive (“low impact”) dyes have a higher than average absorption rate (around 80% depending on the color). Less water is required in the rinsing process, and less dye runs off in the water. These dyes have a lower impact on the environment than other synthetic dyes.

Low-impact dyes do not contain heavy metals (like chrome, copper and zinc), and they don’t require toxic chemical mordants to fix them to the fiber. We use soda ash, a cousin of baking soda! 

Colors on your screen will not represent a perfect match to each dye job. We strive to take color accurate photos, but screens are fickle. Hand dyed fabrics are created anew with each garment so colors are approximate. That’s the true beauty of hand dyed!
